Drain Re Lining Explained
Inline Drainage Solutions Ltd drain lining is a modern day method which can be used to make a range of drain repairs, providing a ‘replacement pipe’ in locations where gaining access would be problematic or impossible.
The liner is manufactured from a distinctive dense impermeable felt and is tailored to fit exactly the internal dimension of the damaged pipe. The thickness of the lining material can be different according to design specifications demanded.
The new pipe material is a lot like GRP (glass reinforced plastic). In every case it will be superior in quality and strength to the pipe which it lines. The new pipe is moulded into the damaged pipe by an inventive method called ‘inversion’ using water or air pressure, fitting it snugly against the wall of the established pipe. When the inversion is complete the new pipe (which is originally flexible) is now rigid. This results in a strong, tough pipe tightly fitted within the existing pipe. The capability of the drain is only diminished by 6%, an amount too small to be noticeable on domestic water supplies.
After the resin has dried (normally in an hour or so), the packer is withdrawn. The resin has now hardened leaving a smooth, strong new lining over the whole interior of the pipe. The whole process can be carried out in only a few hours, and supplies a low-cost solution for small drain repairs devoid of the disruption of excavating and replacing the drains.
